The Smile

Dieses Gedicht habe ich für eine Freundin geschrieben. Es hat mir nicht viel genützt, sie scheint meine Gefühle nicht zu teilen. Also dachte ich mir, ich poste es mal hier und gebe euch ein paar Ideen und Anregungen, bevor es auf meiner Festplatte versauert.

I see you smiling every day,
stirs the feelings locked away.
Locked deep inside my heart,
for they just will not part.

Friendship has it been at first,
so pure and innocent, and I was free,
but over time you grew on me,
and by the winter nearly gone,
I could not deny it anymore,
a crush of mine you had become.
Encaged the bird that I was once,
freedom exchanged for a lonesome dance.
But you where taken,
so every day, I played the game
hid the feelings, hid the pain.

I have tried denial
I have tried distraction,
even distance have tried.
yet every time I've lost the fight.
Cause every time I think I've won,
you step back into my life, bright as the sun.
Down the hall you walk,
smile at me and then,
my heart dies a million deaths,
and is born again.

You should see the World
through my eyes for just a while,
When you give me that bright smile.
The colors so vibrant,
the fragrance so sweet,
more than once i've been swept off my feet.
And every time I'm amazed once more,
at how beautiful you look,
eyes that I am lost within,
wandering in awe, the lovers tomb.
Amazement comes with sorrow though
for a chance on you, i never took.
Oh so close and yet out of reach,
Friendship the wall that I just can't breach.

Your presence takes my breath away,
and all the things I long to say,
can find no voice.
So in silence I can only hope,
That my eyes will speak my heart.
